Antelope Sandstone Slot Canyons

Talk about a cool place! The weird thing is, your eyes see the canyon as brown, but when you take pictures, they turn out vibrant orange. (kudos to Martin Page for the name and motivation for my trip down there!)

The trick to get the light beams to show up so well? The tour guide tosses sand in the air. You spend the whole tour chewing grit. But it's worth it!!

After the dust tossing, I caught this before it hit the ground. It looks as though the sand is on fire.

You wouldn't think all that beauty was hiding in here, would you?
These pictures were taken in Antelope Canyon, in Page, Utah. You pay for the tour, and are driven about a mile through deep sand to a relatively nondescript slit in the side of the hill. The guide said from above, it just looks like a long crack in the earth. At any given time, there are atleast 50 other people in the canyon with you, which makes picture taking quite a trick! And you get the added bonus of crunching sand in your mouth for the whole tour. Yummy! :-P
